Rocturnal.

This morning I woke up with Wolfmother’s ‘Woman’ blaring at full speed (and full volume) in my head. I became conscious and was instantly aware of the main riff hurtling around my skull with its size 12 boots on. I wonder if it had been on loop in my subconscious the whole night, or whether it simply started up again when I woke, as though I’d just taken the song off pause? I wonder what goes on in my brain when I’m not there?

(Rereads post. Hmm. Wolfmother’s 'Woman'? I’m glad a lot of Freud’s theories have been discredited because he’d no doubt have had a field day with the supposed significance of this one.) :-)

  1. Can't help you, I've got my own problems involving 'Yeah Yeah' and promises of my imminent death if I continue singing along with this internal groovy Hi-Fi.

  2. Perhaps it's the Instant Rockstar finally kicking in?

  3. Well, I managed to shake off "Yeah Yeah" by replacing it with "Till My Head Falls Off" while my subconcious wasn't paying attention.

Unfortunately, Future Spouse now has "Yeah Yeah" stuck in her head, and is thus not happy with me for singing it under my breath for the past 48 hours; there was much muttering of the phrase "Grandpa Music" this morning.

Perhaps our problem is a lack of Instant Rockstar?

  4. Would she prefer it if you went around humming the decidedly non-grandpa 'Oops, I Did It Again'? It could be worse than 'Yeh, Yeh' (Y,Y,Yo. Come on, come on). I think what she needs is a shoehorn, you know, the kind with teeth? Hehe. Now there's one that'll get stuck in your head. Actually, most of Lincoln gets wedged in all too easily, doesn't it?

  5. In fact, most of the back catalogue gets wedged in all too easily, doesn't it?

  6. Replying to your reply on my blog.. i fear for the tower of power. it is collecting dust as we speak. i can see the first few weeks of our living in our new home may be consumed by marcs taking apart the tower of power, carefully dusting each little piece and putting it all back together! Forget the garden, there is precious technology we have neglected for way to long! I'll make sure I continue following the makings of the projector surrounds also.

  7. Hi Wendy,

Welcome to Commas. Not that I mind you responding on my blog to my comment on your blog, but I do find it somewhat confusing. Why didn't you just respond on yours? Kudos, I guess, for defying conventions and expectations! :-)

Now, however, I'm uncertain about where I should be posting this comment - here or there, here or there - and I'm fearful that very soon cats and dogs may well be living together! What have you started, Wendy? What have you started?

  8. Oh, and Kate, I don't think it is the Instant Rockstar because I'm using the sub-genre 'Classic Rock' of which (as much as they might like to be) I don't think Wolfmother classify as yet. Now if I was to wake up with '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' or 'My Generation' blaring away, then you might be onto something. :-)

  9. "Rio" and "Hungry Like The Wolf" are also considered "Classic Rock" nowadays, of course.
