Labour Day labour day.

We're just popping off to the hospital to pick up a baby. Back soon.

UPDATE: Hup. We're back. Got one.

Please allow me to introduce you: this is Harper.

And unlike Winter who, appropriately enough, turned an extended hot spell cold on the day of her birth, Harper's brought the heat. Nothing but high 30s and even into the 40s since she arrived last Monday. We don't hold it against her, of course, we're just glad that she's here.

  3. Hi Chase. Thanks for saying hello! Yes, I started my three blogs all at the same time, but after the birth of my first child I found it hard to find the time to generate content for all three. Now, with a second human child just arrived, I think regular updates will have to wait until I retire. Or become a millionaire playboy. So, you know, we'll see... I will respond to any comments that appear on old posts, but I'm going through a long dark of no internet access at the mo, and so haven't been able to get to yours yet. Thanks again.

  4. Hey CK. You're on your honeymoon and you've got time to check my blog? For shame.

And yes, I'm still shutoff from humanity at home, so haven't been able to update this post until now. It's been worth the wait for you, though, surely? Speak to you when you get back. And enjoy the magnificent NZ weather. Why couldn't Australia have spent a few more million years drifting over to that part of the world before we turned up? Far too sunny here. Even in Tasmania.

  5. Congratulations on the latest addition.

But, really, sometimes I think you say things knowing I won't be able to resist responding...

Australia is drifting north, so waiting a few million years would be exactly the wrong thing to do, if you'd like a milder climate.

  7. Thanks Will. I'm glad you like, and I'm most pleased it's a name you've considered as well. To my surprise the reaction to Harper as a name has been generally less positive than that to Winter. I thought we were playing safe by using a name that's generally recognised as a name, but we've been getting a lot of "Ooh... that's... different/interesting/unique." Like we're in a Kath & Kim episode. And which is often followed up with "So, what's the story there? Where'd you find that name?" to which we have to reply, "Um, in a baby name book. No biggie. Sorry."

As for boys' names, I can probably give you my full list now because we. are. done. Pregnancies are just so incredibly hard on Kate that we reckon two'll do just fine.

  9. Thanks Jess. One of my handwritten posts that I'm just about to post actually addresses the Harper Lee issue.

Yes, it's great news about Tus and his finally being here and in quite good shape to boot! A great relief.
